My heart is full

Mary Jane, meet Rhino

I always felt Valentine’s day was more about friends and family than romance. Bug and I made cards for a few of those loved ones. She wanted to cut them up with her scissors, one of her new skills, to show how much she loves them.

What a funny holiday. It’s a fun excuse to cut cheese with a heart cookie cutter and invite our friends over. Hope you had time with some loved ones too.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Rabbit rattle

Does it not seem that everyone is having babies at the same time? I have a back log of baby projects that I want to knit for all the little ones I know. I predict more coming in the near future too. This rabittit rattle from Natural Nursery Knits (love this book) is one of my go to baby projects because 1. I can actually finish it 2. It’s freaking cute 3. The giftie doesn’t outgrow it by the time I finish and finally get it in the mail. I made one for Little Bear and the rattle fits around her little fist so she can nom away at the bunny head. Bug likes to point out the obvious and give me updates. “your baby is drooling” (yes, that is how she refers to her sister some days) “she’s chewing on her toys”

I guess I should point out that I have yet to put a bell inside the heaoff one of these rabbits yet to make it a rattle, mostly because I’ll be stuffing and stitching it up and I get so excited to finish that I don’t really want to go dig around for a bell. And I’m prone to prefer quite toys anyway. My personal noise level is usually met by the children all by their lonesome adding any more noise puts me on edge.

Like I said, I love almost all of the patters in this book. They are beautiful and simple.

Bug collects her favorite letters and deposits them around the house and I reflexively pick them up and snap them back on the fridge. Right now B’s and O’s are favored, I was recently accused of spelling boob amide the scramble of letters. When I need a little order in my life I organize things by color. We sing the alphabet song in a sweet lulluby voice at bed time. This sums up my life right now.

No need to wear a sweater or coat when it’s February and 40 degrees if there is sun…

I started writing one note about each kid everyday this year. A funny quote, sweet moment, or milestone to remember.

2012 notebook

I’ve managed to keep up and I haven’t missed a day yet. It has the added benefit of acknowledging and appreciating something small about the day before I go to bed. They say it takes 40 days (or is it 90 days?) to make a habit. I’ve never been very good about journling before but it seems easier to commit to this since it’s for me and later for the girls too.

A note a day

Where Am I?
